The Jerusalem Post Group's flagship international initiative honors Jewish educators who strengthen Jewish identity, foster a connection to the Jewish people, and deepen ties to the State of Israel.

 

Background

The Global Jewish Teachers Award recognizes outstanding teachers and educators serving in Jewish schools around the world who have made a significant contribution to strengthening their students' Jewish identity and deepening their connection to the State of Israel.

 

The award will be presented to teachers and educators whose educational, values-based, and community-oriented approach promotes meaningful Jewish identity, a strong connection to the Jewish people and Jewish heritage, and an enduring relationship with the State of Israel.

 

The purpose of the award is to recognize inspirational educators throughout the Jewish world, elevate the status of Jewish teachers within their communities, and encourage educational excellence that contributes both to the development of meaningful Jewish identity and to strengthening the ongoing connection between world Jewry and the State of Israel.

 

Eligibility

• Eligible candidates are educators who currently teach Jewish Studies, Hebrew, or Israel Studies at a Jewish Day School outside of Israel, have at least three years of teaching experience, are actively teaching at the time of application, and are not serving as Israeli Shlichim/Shlichot
   

The award is open to teachers and educators who:

• Serve in Jewish schools anywhere in the world, with teaching and education constituting the primary focus of their professional and educational work.

• View teaching as both a central mission and a lifelong vocation, demonstrating a sustained commitment to Jewish education, strengthening Jewish identity, and shaping future generations.

• May nominate themselves or be nominated by parents, alumni, colleagues, or community members, provided the nominator is at least 18 years old.

• Have a minimum of three years' teaching experience in Jewish schools.

• May submit nominations in Hebrew, English, Spanish, French, or Russian.

 

Purpose of the Award

The award will recognize teachers and educators who have made a significant contribution in one or more of the following areas:

• Strengthening their students' Jewish identity.

• Deepening students' connection, commitment, and relationship to the State of Israel.

• Fostering a sense of belonging to the Jewish people and the Jewish community.

• Creating meaningful educational experiences in the fields of Judaism, Zionism, and communal values.

• Encouraging educational and community engagement that helps shape the future of the Jewish world.

 

As part of the selection process, the judging committee will also evaluate each candidate's educational philosophy and values, particularly regarding strengthening Jewish identity, deepening ties to Israel, and the role of Jewish education in today's changing world.

 

Submission Process

• Nominations must be submitted through the official online application forms, in accordance with the instructions published on the award website.

• Each candidate may submit only one application.

• Individuals may nominate more than one teacher or educator.

• Submission of an application constitutes consent by both the candidate and the nominator for the organizers to use all submitted materials—including texts, photographs, videos, and supporting materials—for the promotion of the award, publicity, media activities, and documentation by The Jerusalem Post Group and its partners.

• The nominator declares that all submitted materials have been lawfully obtained and that they possess all necessary rights, permissions, and approvals required for their submission, publication, and use.

• Responsibility for obtaining the consent of individuals appearing in submitted materials and for securing any applicable copyright permissions rests solely with the nominator.

• The nominator waives any claim against the award organizers or The Jerusalem Post Group regarding the authorized use of submitted materials in accordance with these regulations.

 

Selection Process

• All nominations will undergo an initial review by the award team of The Jerusalem Post Group to verify eligibility and compliance with submission requirements.

• Eligible nominations will then be evaluated by a professional panel of education experts according to the established selection criteria.

• Approximately 20 finalists will be selected for the shortlist.

• The finalists will be reviewed by an international judging committee, which will select the award recipients.

• Each member of the judging committee will have an equal vote.

• Committee deliberations will be conducted in an orderly and documented manner, with internal records maintained.

• The committee and award team may request additional information, supporting documents, references, or interviews with candidates as part of the evaluation process.

 

Representation and Diversity

• The award is committed to a professional, objective, respectful, and balanced selection process that reflects the diversity of voices within Jewish education.

• Every effort will be made to ensure appropriate gender, geographic, and communal representation.

• The judging committee will take into consideration the diversity of Jewish denominations, communities, and educational philosophies throughout the Jewish world, recognizing that this plurality is an essential source of the Jewish people's richness, resilience, and continuity.

• All candidates will be evaluated using the same criteria.

• Committee members with a conflict of interest will not participate in the evaluation of the relevant candidate.

 

Privacy and Use of Materials

• Applicants declare that all information and materials submitted are accurate, truthful, and provided with the candidate's consent.

• The Jerusalem Post Group may use submitted materials—including texts, photographs, videos, quotations, and supporting content—for reporting, publicity, documentation, and promotion of the award across its media platforms and related activities.

• Applicants confirm that they possess all necessary rights, permissions, and approvals required for the use, publication, and distribution of submitted materials, including copyrights and usage rights.

• Responsibility for obtaining the consent of the candidate and any third party appearing in submitted materials rests solely with the applicant.

• Each candidate must submit a high-quality profile photograph together with a brief biography outlining their personal and educational background.

• Personal information will not be shared with third parties unrelated to the administration of the selection process or operation of the award.

 

Award Ceremony and Participation of Winners

1. The Global Jewish Teachers Award ceremony will take place during the Jewish Educators Conference, organized by Israel's Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, expected to be held in Israel in October.

2. The ceremony will be conducted as a prestigious event attended by the award recipients, members of the international judging committee, representatives of partner organizations, officials from the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, and other distinguished guests.

3. The award will be presented as part of the conference, and includes conference participation, with full hospitality provided.

4. During the conference, winners will participate in meetings, professional tours, and visits with leading figures in education, society, government, and the Jewish world, as well as educational institutions and major organizations throughout Israel.

5. The dates of the ceremony and the visit to Israel will be determined by the official schedule of the Jewish Educators Conference. Award recipients will be required to participate on those dates, and individual scheduling changes or alternative arrangements will not be possible.

 

General Provisions

• The award administration reserves the right to amend these regulations from time to time as necessary to support the operation of the award and the selection process.

• Decisions of the judging committee are final and are not subject to appeal.

• Submission of a nomination constitutes full acceptance of these regulations
